Over six sessions, you’ll explore the core techniques used in hand-building pottery:

  • Slab building (for plates, mugs and tableware)

  • Coil building (for vases and sculptural forms)

  • Pinch pot techniques (for smaller forms and experimentation)

  • Surface decoration including carving and texture

  • Finishing, refining and preparing work for firing

These are the same foundational skills taught across most beginner pottery courses giving you a strong base to continue developing your practice.

Class breakdown: This pottery class is taught in 6 sessions totally 12 hours. (2hrs each)

  • Week 1- Intro into lay, pinch pots and coils

  • Week 2- Coils and lab rolling

  • Week 3 and 4- With tutor guidance you’ll make something independently based on the skills you’ve learnt

  • Week 5 and 6- Glazing

By the end of the course, you’ll have a collection of finished ceramic work that reflects your own style and creativity. You’ll be guided by an experienced ceramic artist in a small-group setting, allowing for plenty of individual support.

Classes are designed to be relaxed and informal, encouraging experimentation while helping you build confidence with clay at your own pace. All materials, tools, clay and kiln firing are included — so you can focus entirely on making.
