One-day pottery workshops typically allow students to complete one piece, while longer courses provide time to develop technique and experiment with different forms.

What should I bring to a pottery class?

All clay, tools, and materials are provided during pottery classes. Students are advised to wear comfortable clothing that can get messy, as working with clay can be hands-on. Students are advised to bring their own if preferred.

Can I keep the pottery I make during the class?

Yes. Students normally keep the pottery they create during workshops. Finished pieces are dried, fired, and glazed before collection.

Gift vouchers are available and can be redeemed against pottery classes or workshops.

Yes. Many students attend pottery workshops with friends, partners, or family members. Pottery classes provide a relaxed and social creative experience and are often booked as date activities or group experiences.

Private group bookings may also be available depending on availability.

How many students are in each pottery class?

As an independent artist led studio we intentionally keep pottery class sizes small to ensure students receive individual support and instruction. Small classes help create a friendly and supportive learning environment while allowing students to develop confidence working with clay.

How do I book a pottery class in Sheffield?

Pottery classes can be booked directly through the Andrew Walker Ceramics website. The booking system shows available workshop dates, course schedules, and pricing.

Early booking is recommended as class sizes are limited.

Is pottery messy?

Working with clay can be messy, but that is part of the creative process. Our studio is fully equipped for pottery workshops, and cleaning facilities to ensure students remain comfortable throughout the session.

What age groups can attend pottery classes?

Most pottery classes are designed for adults and older teenagers interested in learning ceramics. Young people aged between 13-16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Do you run private pottery classes or corporate workshops?

Yes. Andrew Walker Ceramics can provide private pottery workshops, team-building classes, and group creative sessions in Sheffield. These workshops can be tailored to suit group size, skill level, and event type. Please use the contact form to discuss this further.

What if I can’t find the right date and time class for me?

If you’re struggling to find the right date and time that suits you then please get in touch via the contact page and I’ll try to accommodate your request.

What facilities are available?

There is a shared public toilet situated next to the studio (please note- this is shared with other businesses in the building). Unfortunately, tea and coffee facilities are no longer available but please feel free to bring your own refreshments.

Is there parking available on site?

During the week parking is available on the neighbouring streets.

Does the studio have disabled access?

Here at Andrew Walker Ceramics we’re trying hard to make the studio facilities as inclusive as possible. At this current time the studio is on ground level with easy access but unfortunately we work on high workbenches and therefore may not be suitable for wheel chairs.

How long do I have to wait until I can pick up my finished pottery?

Depends on the size of your finished piece. Drying can take 2-7 days, plus firing in the kiln for up to 30-60 hours. Most pieces are ready in around 2-3 weeks after your class has finished. Please be patient.

You’ll be notified via text or email and have approximately 1 month to collect.
